Cool

Day 5 now I believe since I last had a data failure...this to me would strongly lend to the theory that the problem isn't the phone but the network (Virgin/Sprint)..so double-yays to them fixing that issue. Anyone else find that the data faliure is corrected??

Not corrected yet in West Michigan.
I have been dealing with this since about a week or 2 after getting the phone 12/30/10.

I have yanked battery, called customer service, done airplane mode...
sometimes it helps and I have connect back, other times I don't.
Rarely if it comes back do I have it for more than a few hours and it's lost again.
I rarely even use data, but when I go to use it - wammo, no navigation, no browsing, no email.

This sux.

Confused   I have noticed that since the data drop was fixed, now the GPS functions are sluggish. It *works* but sometimes things that use a "My Location" feature firing up the GPS take a while to get a response from the GPS.

Off topic a bit...man, do things like the Google GPS navigation suck the battery down...today 90 mins turn-by-turn navigation used at least 50% of the battery.

Not bad when you consider it's high data usage (location data sent, and map tiles downloading), screen always on, gps receiver refreshing constantly, speaker usage, higher cpu usage. 90min & 50% is pretty good. Car chargers are cheap (I use a two port usb plug so I can pretty much connect anything to it with the proper cable)

Cool Rats...    Wink  I got caught off-guard and didn't have it with me. I guess then that ain't bad...I also started off the day with an hour or so of EBuddy texting so gave the little bugger a workout.  And u know what else I realize now..spare batts are cheap on ebay etc.

Back to the data issue. It's been steady with little or no failures, but my speedtest log has shown a steady avg decrease in download speed (good days are now about 500kbps.)  I still love this phone however.

Called cust srvc again; they "tried something" on their end for updates or something - nothing on the phone.  That made it worse.  I've had data connection once for about 15 min in all of the last 2 weeks - - all the rest, no email, no google nav, no browser.

NO DATA - - would love the phn but is not a smartphone now.

Text/voice work fine.  GPS even sees where I'm at, but driving connections don't load (data connection lost), browser will start to load m.virginmobile but stop and no other bookmarks even load, email will load headers of previous emails & sometimes the msg cached but no email (refresh says unable to connect to server).  But if I go to wifi everything works, so it's not any settings - - it's purely in the 3G??

Angry    I'd get myself back to the retailer where you got it and get a replacement. If you get Virgin to ship you one it might be a refurb. Almost sounds like they have you on a no-data plan or the ones with 10MB. Start over with the new phone and a new plan. If you got it at Best Buy or the Shack, let them activate and test it right there. Then, beat the unused portion of your old month account out of Virgin.
