In the same boat.  Trying it again today but the Ford SYNC will initially say it's connected but when I go to make a call, the car says "no phone found".

Went to Syncmyfrod.com, registered, and printed 8 pages of instructions - will let you know.

We had same problem. Finally found a setting (basically a pop-up window in one of the bluetooth menus - when phone is initially connecting) that asked if you wanted to allow automatic connection  to SYNC. There was a "Set As Default" checkbox at the bottom of this pop-up and once I said "yes" and checked the checkbox to make it default, we have had no problems. I know this is a bit vague, but look into the bluetooth menus when your first connect with SYNC and you should find this menu. Good luck - it DOES work.

Well, no luck yet.  It's a visit to the Ford Dealer this week.  Below is the blow-by-blow of the attempts

- The phone sees the Ford SYNC under "Bluetooth Devices"
- I tap this device and am prompted to enter the Ford SYNC provided code.
- I enter the code and tap OK.
- The phone goes back to the previous screen with the Bluetooth device list, SYNC is there with a message "Pair to this device" and the headphones symbol.  I never see the "set as default" pop-up window.
- Ford SYNC, after another 10 seconds or so, saves my phone but never asks if I want to set as Primary, 911, or contacts list.

I'll let you know.

I am having the same problem. It shows sync at the bottom of my phone. Everytime you click on it, it asks for another code. I tried to pair it with my computer and it worked fine. I uploaded a Sync update today on my usb and loaded it onto my car successfully, hoping that would help, but it did not. Getting kind of frustrated.  Meh

Yeah, I am having problems hooking up to a new MINI now. It pairs, but continually drops the connection. I don't have to re-pair, but I have to force the two to connect again and again. Wife's Intercept paired immediately and stays connected with no problems. I think some phones have lower power or inconsistent bluetooth chips...?

Grin THANK YOU!!! This worked!  After hours and hours, literally, by myself, Ford techs and Sprint Techs!!!  I greatly appreciate your post!!!

Are you using the newest android update Froyo on your phone? I saw on another forum that someone else got that menu option as well and it worked. I cannot get any menu options when my bluetooth is connecting. I tried it in my Ford, I tried it when I synced to my computer. Did you have to push anything on the phone or did it just pop up?

I think it just popped up but I can't replicate the situation and the phone will NOT connect (is paired but will not connect) to my MINI / BMW. Don't have a clue....

Just to update...

After a chat on the SYNCmyride site, I got some instructions on how to "reverse pair" the Intercept.  My Intercept actually connected twice via this method and I have made calls via SYNC.  But it's not perfect as the phone did not reconnect the next morning.

Here it is, - best of luck.
It is possible that pairing your phone through a different method may allow the connection to be made. Instead of the standard method of pairing where your phone discovers Sync, please attempt pairing by having SYNC find your phone. You will need to set your phone's Bluetooth to discoverable, and then follow the following steps on the Sync system:
1. Press the phone button to access the phone menu
2. Scroll to Add Device and press OK
3. It will say 'Find SYNC' and begin giving instructions, instead of following the instructions, scroll up or to the left one space
4. It should then say 'Find Devices'
5. Press OK with your phone set to discoverable mode, and SYNC will find your phone
6. Select your phone from the list of nearby devices and press OK
7. It will ask for a PIN
8. Say the PIN as if you were giving a command, it will repeat it back to you after you finish
9. Press OK
10. Your phone will ask for a PIN number, enter the same one you said
11. After pressing OK or enter on your phone, they will attempt to make the connection

Thanks for the info! I got it to sync that way and was able to get it to work for a day. Now it will automatically connect but it says that there is no phone entries. When I reversed paired it the first time it downloaded the phonebook no problems. Now all of a sudden they are not there.

Yes, squirt, that's what I've been seeing too.  It seems to be a very erratic thing, this connecting to SYNC in reverse.  Of, course, connecting to SYNC normally is NOT erratic - it flat doesn't work.

I have another idea though and I will try it later today.  It has to do with that mysterious "pop-up" window that someone earlier said was their answer.  I'm going to try to pair the normal (ha !!) way but when I see SYNC appear on my Intercept Bluetooth devices list, I'm going to "long-tap" that entry and see if the pop-up....well...pops-up.  One way or the other, I'll report back with the results.

Well, no luck.  Doing a "long tap" on the Bluetooth device SYNC only popped up a window asking if I wanted to "pair and connect" that device.  I said yes but it was still the same issue - no connection after the PIN is entered.

Will keep trying.

I finally got it to work! Here's what I did. I deleted my phone from Sync. Reverse paired it again, just like the instructions you got from Ford. It paired okay and downloaded my phonebook again. Then I happened to look in the notification bar on my Intercept and up at the top I saw two bluetooth symbols. One on the right, which showed i was connected and one on the left. I pulled down my notification bar and it said "Sync is trying to get permission"... i clicked on it and got the pop-up menu that said "allow Sync to connect (or something similar to that). I pressed always for this device. Then another notification popped up in the notification bar. I clicked on that one and it asked for permission for Sync to use my contacts. I again pressed always. It's worked fine for the past few days.

The only thing is I get that pop-up menu each time i get into my car again. Even though I check the "always allow" box, but at least i got it to work this time. So look up in your notification bar on your phone when Sync tries to initially connect. Hope this helps!

Thank you for this forum.  After struggling for 2 days on trying to get my phone and SYNC paired, I hopped on this forum and there was discussion on how to get things to work.  I am now up and running with SYNC and my Samsung Intercept.  Thanks again. Smile
