Anyone else experiencing a slow phone?  Whenever I clear the RAM in the task manager, it never drops below 100.  When I do clear it, it goes back up after opening an app.  I'm not running multiple apps at once.  I hit the back button on the intercept to exit out.

I found for the first day or so my updated phone seemed to be trying to keep every app open and in memory. I would try to run something big and it would stop responding and I'd get a force close dialog, but for some reason it seems to have settled down now and things are working much better. As far as I know I didn't do anything dramatic to fix it.

Pull the battery straight out(without turning off phone) everytime it slows down big time, after a few times of that wont have big slow downs as much(big difference) but still will have a few freezes. Try Go Launcher EX, for me built home was freezing to much; look up GO on the market and test out all GO apps. Move all movable apps to sd, that helps too. Get memory booster lite it helps, but it's not as good as it was in 2.1. (Anybody who uses or likes the information please pos thanking me and telling me the results Grin )

Thanks for the suggesstions ppls!  I ended up factory resetting the phone through the boot menu thing.  It's running hell a better now.  I'm not going to redownload chomp SMS and just get the apps I use most like my Vignette and photoshop express.  I don't use my phone for gaming, just massive amounts of texting and photography.  Everything that I can move onto the SD card will be moved.  Hopefully this will help keep the phone smooth until whenever I decide to get a new phone.  Maybe by then, VM will have a larger selection of Android phones!  Kiss

Ha.  The dolphin Browser was causing the phones slowness and the excess RAM usage.  I have uninstalled the browser and am going to test other browsers.  I'm going to download the dolphin browser mini and see how that works.  If the same thing happens, I will just use the stock browser.  Dolphin browser HD doesn't seem to like my intercept.   Gasp

You can either go directly into the info screen of an app (by tapping on it from the settings, applications, manage applications screen) or by downloading App 2 SD from the market. The app does make it a bit easier.  Tongue

Some people when they upgraded to Froyo they did the following:

1.

Backup all Apps, SMS, Call Log, Contacts and Data

2.

Perform Factory Reset

Home -> Menu -> Settings -> Privacy -> Factory data reset

3.

Copy new update.zip file to SD Card root folder

4.

Shut down phone

5.

Reboot to recovery
Press Volume down + Call + Call End/Power buttons together

In Recovery menu use options

wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

Then,

apply sdcard update.zip

Finally, reboot system now

6.

Restore Data / Apps (Re-install latest version from Android Market if needed)

This did wonders for them.

LISTEN TO THIS PERSON!! If I had done this it would have saved me time and frustration. Being new to smartphones I only did my research AFTER issues came up. After dealing with issues after update that relate to this and looking for answers, this backup and reset will solve or prevent many problems that are related to this. I wish I knew about this a few days ago!!

The phone also runs a *lot* smoother when you frequently clear out the call logs and SMS logs.
