So I am 2.1'ed and rooted...  Has anyone got Wifi Tether to work?  I tried the one hosted by Google (Wireless Tether) and tetherWifi, both do not work.

Thanks for the info.  Another question for people that have used these apps on the last build:  How does the speed of these apps compare to physically tethering?

Hi everyone.

I just got my intercept last week, and have been doing a lot of research trying to get wifi tethering going.  I got mine with 2.1 already installed, but have since rooted it.

I want to find a wifi tethering solution but I have found it very hard to determine what the status/progress of this is since the 2.1 update.  Can anyone help me out?

Thanks and many cookies to all of you!

Okay so I read the posts linked, and it looks juicy and tasty.  Unfortunately, I am stuck at step 4 (?)

Directions - Recovery Menu Flash Options
you need to first rename zImage.vampirefo1 to zImage to use this method.
boot into recovery
make sure to mount sdcard to /sdcard
put zImage into /sdcard/updates (recovery 2.1.3) or /sdcard/sdx/updates (recovery 3.0+)
flash using the flash options in the menu for kernel

how do I 'put zImage into /sdcard/updates' ?
I'm afraid I got into the android game a little late so I've been kind of blindly moving forward with out being completely sure what the hell i'm doing or what people are talking about when referencing certain actions.

Running windows 7 on my laptop.
I can access the sd card when the phone is on, do I move the file onto the sd card then reboot the phone into recovery?  Or is there some way, as the post implies, that I can mount the phone on my laptop while in recovery mode and move it then?

Thanks for the quick reply vapirefo!

So the question I now have is:

Do I create a folder called 'updates' on the root of the card

or

Do I create a folder called 'sdcard' on the root and another folder called 'updates' inside of that?

What recovery are you using? the folder should already be there. but if not and you are using the older recovery then just the folder updates

I believe I am using 2.1.3

I flashed my phone with this:
joeykrim-SDX-recovery2.1.3

Is there a different one that is more current that you could link me to?

The help is very much appreciated!

Ohboyohboyohboy!!

Currently typing this on my wifi only iPad via wifi tether baby!

I want to say many thanks for the hard work by those that contributed.
If there is someone taking donations, I'm ready to shell out.  It just feels wrong getting this and not having to pay somebody!

Also, we should change the title of this post cause it's definitely working.
