Computer will not recognize phone.  I have tried on XP and Windows 7 with the same results.
I have attached the error message.  Any help is much appreciated.

This seems to be a common problem. Try all the ports on the computer, restart the computer, restart the phone, try different cables (if available). Windows 7 seems to have the hardest time locating it. I've actually had the best luck with Vista Business on a Dell D620. The trick seems to be to let the OS find the drivers on Windows Update, the down-loadable drivers don't work :(

Ok plugging it into another port helps...kinda

It recognizes the device as a card reader {Removable Disk (H:)} but does not recognize the card.

if it sees it as a card reader your almost home. You need to Mount the USB. On the phone drag down the notification area. In there it will show the usb connection and have a link to mount it. see page 37 of the user manual. It seems that either the phone has use of the SD card or the PC never both. Mounting gives the PC access. This had me going for most of a night before I read the manual.

Have you had any luck getting this to work? Because I am stuck at the same spot.

It recognizes the device as a card reader {Removable Disk (H:)} but does not recognize the card.

I bought a HTC EVO and got a free Samsung Intercept. After having worked in the software industry for 25 years, I can tell you guys that the usb code on the intercept is real buggy, horrible and bad. On the HTC EVO things works like a charm.

I have pictures of things working perfectly on the Intercept that I captured yesterday after going thru voluminous info on bad cables, bad drivers, mount/unmount sequence etc. But that was very short lived. Today nothing works. The freaking thing sucks!

Rebooting the device was my formula to get the USB to work - but that also doesn't today. We folks cannot be stupid fools to not get this usb thing to work. I've made my own usb devices using http://www.sparkfun.com/products/762 and I can frankly tell you that the usb software on the intercept and the drivers for it on XP are horrible!

My computer recognized it fine before the update, but now I am having the same problem you guys have talked about with it not recognizing it and saying the card has malfunctioned.  It works, though, if I plug the USB cord into the phone and computer, and then power off and then back  on the phone while it is connected.  It reads the card correctly as the phone restarts.
