There are a couple of custom roms that supposedly work with the Intercept. Each one has it's own set of directions that must be followed exactly for installation, or things won't work right. So a "tutorial" really can't be done here. I don't know if anyone here is actually _using_ a custom rom, or if any of them are any good.

Since no one here seems to be actually running one, I will not recommend one, since I can't say if any even work properly. A custom rom may or may not be any better than the stock one. Devices with larger followings (IE: are supported by Cyanogen, and other big name rom cookers) tend to be faster and more stable. Smaller following roms tend to improve on certain aspects, and lose in other areas, simply because there isn't as many people telling the developer what issues there are.

Do a search for "custom rom samsung intercept" and follow the directions. Post back with YOUR findings ;)

 Grin

A lot of exciting development is going on at sdx-developers forum on Samsung Intercept Custom ROMs, Custom Kernels and Custom JITs.

http://forum.sdx-developers.com/intercept-development-2-2/

Please read yourself and make decision for yourself.

Note: Always make sure that you check whether ROM or Kernel is for Virgin Mobile or Sprint and select based upon your carrier.
