I have tried inserting my SD card directly into my computer, and I was able to view the SD card contents, but when I would click on the videos to view them, a window would pop up on my computer telling me to download Apple Application Software. Is this really necessary?

After that, I tried using the USB cable that had come with my phone. I plugged it in, and mounted my SD card. I then clicked on My Computer, and Removable Disk (F:) was there. I clicked on it, but there were no folders or files there.

What am I doing wrong? I really need help on trying to figure this out.

Also, I have Windows Vista, not Windows 7.

AND it says device not recognized.

The intercept is fussy about connecting to computers. You also have to "mount" the sd card to the computer, or it won't display anything.

As far as the files themselves, it records in QuickTime format (created by Apple), so yes, Quicktime codec is needed, so you have to download the quicktime software to your computer so your computer knows what to do with them.

I did mount the SD card, and our computer does have QuickTime installed, but the QuickTime never works. Not even for our previous phones in which we also tried to view and transfer our videos from SD cards. :/

I recommend using Revo Uninstaller (there is a free version) to completely remove Quicktime, and download Quicktime Alternative instead. You may find better results using that player instead of the bloated one from Apple.

The intercept records to a file format with the extension of .3gp, which is based off of MPEG-4.  .3gp files are NOT by Apple.

You can just google "3gp player" and either download a new player or find a codec that will work on one of your existing players.

Just for clarification... Quicktime is indeed by apple, but the file format is not. Quicktime supports the 3gp file format so it may be used to view 3gp videos. There are a few other players that can be used, but Quicktime just happens to be one of the more popular ones since it's so prevalent on Windows and Mac (obviously) based computers. If you don't like Quicktime, you can always try VLC since it is also cross platform.
