Picked this up from androidforum.  its basically instructions on how to get the htc virtual keyboard onto your intercept.  huge upgrade imo.

This sounds amazing! I'm getting my Intercept very soon, and would love to know, does installing this keyboard make it so whenever you touch any text entry screen it right away brings up the Hero keypad, or do you have to long-touch ALL text fields and choose 'Touch Input' every time to access it?

Also, does it remove or reduce the typing lag I've experienced with the stock keypad or keyboard while testing the phone at the sprint store, or is that somehow not an issue anymore?

Thank you!

Nope.  Once you set it, it brings it up whenever you touch a text field.  The main thing I like about it is the fact that I don't have to go to another screen to enter symbols or numbers.  You just long press a key and it brings up the alternate for that key.  Lag is a little better with this keyboard, but it's still there sometimes.

Ah. awesome! thank you so much for the quick response! I'll definitely be doing this the MOMENT i have my new phone.  ;D

I expect most lag issues will be resolved with whatever Android update is eventually given to the intercept, be it 1.6 or 2.0.

Again, thank you so much!

The BEST thing about the hero keyboard is it's error correction. For example, type "eamdom"  and it knows you meant "random"

I agree.  Also the fact that there is a button to hide the keyboard.  Does the stock keyboard not have that or was I just missing something?

well... It doesn't. the back button always hides the keyboard though, so i've never needed to use the button on the keyboard.

wow, i didn't know about this feature at all.  great to know.  i also turned off the haptic feed back for the htc vk, which reduced the lagginess that i was experiencing.

as a side question: has anyone been able to calibrate their keyboards?  unfortunately, mine keeps force closing whenever i attempt to calibrate.  any remedies?

other than that, the htc vk is leagues above our 1.5 cupcake.

In order to calibrate it you have to install another apk.

http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/apps/Clicker.apk

That's the calibration tool  that the HTC_IME uses.

How do I install the calibration app? I have unzipped it to my computer and copied the files in to my SDcard on my intercept. and was not able to install it with the app manager.

Thanks in advanced.
