I just the intercept for Virgin Mobile.

Despite what some have said about this phone,  I wanted to give it a shot.  It as between the Optimus V and this phone.  I cant stand touch screen only keyboards - so the Intercept won.

What are these people talking about?  Is it because of Froyo, that now makes this phone great?

Not a single lag issue, not a single slow down (unless im running 10 apps) - so does my Archos 101 Tablet (runs 2.3).

So whats the problems? is there something I'm missing?  Or did i get the only non crappy Intercept they make?

This is phone hell of a phone.  This completely destroys my blackberry 9300 - not even a contest.  I used only blackberry because of the email issue - now with K9 Mail - it is just as reliable.

Thanks
Joe

Once you have it for a few months and start playing with it then you will see how slow it will get.

Its all the bloatware people install that lags this phone.  People need to research what they are buying before they buy it. This phone has no GPU so of course its going to be slow when you play games, its not meant for that. Its build for being a phone, text, and web with a nice UI and basic apps.  That's it, and that's all it will ever be.  Future android updates aren't going to change that.

So when you try and pack 100 people in a vehicle with a Ferrari body and a 4 Cylinder engine.. expect it to slow down.  Run your phone lean and you have no problems.  If you try and pack your entire home computer experience in this phone, your going to be sorely let down. You want that? Get a Optimus V.  I didnt want it because i hate touch keyboards.

After running this phone that way for 10 days - i have not had a single slow down - or lag issue.. not a battery pull.

Keep this phone to what it is.. a nice phone.

I've had my Intercept since December 2010.  I find the phone to be functional
and have had no issues with the device being sluggish compared to its out of
the box first time observations.

Now realize that since the phone is touted as a middle of the road device, it is
not going to win any races with the higher end units.  But as long as you are
aware of what you load onto the phone, it can serve you well long after the
newness factor wears off.

I have about 20 additional applications added to the device from the Market
and my unit has never been rooted nor does it use an alternate launcher of
any kind.

I actually use an alternate launcher (go launcher ex) and it doesn't slow the phone down at all.. its also very very functional because you can stop apps very quickly and all at once - looks great.

It was leaked in April that Motorola is going to make a nice droid to VM.  If it far a nice upgrade ill probably get that. So im looking at a year with this phone.

I guess the thing to keep in mind that despite all the features that new smart
phones deliver, my Intercept was never meant to be a pocket computer.

Does the device allow me to download useful applications, check email and
make a great companion to my desktop and laptop?  Absolutely.  I can't see
myself without my smart phone now that I have it.  But I do know what I can
realistically expect from it in eother case.

When was it upgraded from decent beginner Android phone to middle of the road?

I love this phone have had it for a year. Downloaded many many apps and also removed lots of them. still fast too. If you have'nt upgraded to 2.1 you can for free. Also download task manager to shut down stuff that will make your phone faster.

 Sad

App killers are extremely bad for the Android. They interfere with how the operating system on the phone (Linux) is designed to work.

this phone is decent for the low price i pay each month.   It does what i need it to do.  i am not into games so the only games i use on my phone is bible trivia and the memory game.   so i have to agree with cdnerd.  it is what you make it and i find that most of my issues are with VM.
