"All, since my former 'fun' post, back on page 6, I've been digging a bit and may have the updates we've all been looking to hear  (I'm crossing all fingers and toes in hope the dates don't shift yet again):

I'm still digging for an update on the security policy enhancement updates for EAS (Exchange Activesync) so if you have something on this, would appreciate a reply.

Sprint communication below:

INFORMATION REGARDING MR 2.1 ÉCLAIR FOR ANDROID DEVICES :
HTC HERO AND SAMSUNG MOMENT
The Samsung Intercept 2.1 Éclair Maintenance Release is scheduled for next Friday, April 30, and the HTC Hero is scheduled for the first week of May.

The 2.1 download/installation will initially be available to Sprint subscribers using an Over the Wire (OTW) download tool only.  OTW will be the initial and recommended method for both Hero and Intercept due to the following:

The 2.1 SW package is too large (~80Mb - Intercept & 117Mb - Hero) to be hosted and administered using Sprint’s internal Over-the-Air (OTA) servers/platform (9Mb limit).

HTC HERO
The Hero release of MR 2.1 Éclair is slated for the week of May 1.  There are two ways the Hero can be updated:

Tethered (preferred method) or Over the Wire (OTW) : Hero users should go to www.sprint.com/downloads
Click “Smartphones” in the center panel
Click on HTC Hero and follow the download and upgrade instructions.
SAMSUNG MOMENT
We have two scheduled maintenance releases.

The first is MR1 which prepares the Intercept for all future OTA updates and ability for the customer to do their own cable sync updates.  MR1 launched in retails stores 1/15/10 and the customer upgrade tool was launched on the Sprint and Samsung websites on 2/19/10.  NOTE: Customers do not have to visit a retail store to prepare their phones for MR1.

Please use the below steps to download the MR1 update.

Go to www.sprint.com/downloads
Click “Smartphones” in the center panel
Click on “Samsung Intercept™ with Google™”
In the box titled, “Software update for the Samsung Intercept” click “More details”
Follow the instructions for installing MR1
The release of MR2 for the Samsung Intercept and it will be available through the retail stores and through the Sprint and Samsung download websites.  MR2 includes the Android OS update to Éclair 2.1.  After the Intercept has these two maintenance releases, all future upgrades will be performed over the air.

The ones I posted are about an actual release date. Of course it didn't happen, as usual.  ::)

There has been 3 BETA ROMS released, DC23, DD03, and DD10, each has bugs. Until all the bugs are gone, don't expect an Official release. The biggest bug that needs to get squashed is the unknown process hang that kills the battery in a short period of time. It is not related to any app, but you'll know it's happening when your phone turns into a nice pocket warmer. 2nd bug that needs to be squashed is the audio being routed to the  ear piece speaker instead of the back speaker. Most of the other bugs have work arounds that I could live with, the 2 above are current show stoppers.

The biggest bug is actually people, including Sprint, giving misleading information on a release date. This most recent one really ticked me off (April 30). Whatever!

That was not a publicly released date. that was a Sprint employee, but that doesnt mean that it would be publicly released on the 30th just ready for deployment.
