I just went from a Blackberry Curve to the Samsung Intercept.  Getting used to the changes.  So, I figured out how to download ringtones, how to assign individual ringtones to a specific contact, and to a group.  WHEW...

BUT, when a call comes in now, it defaults to my default ringtone and not the custom assigned ringtone.  When I check the contact, it still says its the correct ringtone.

What is wrong here?

My wife has been having this same exact problem with her Intercept. If anyone has any insight on this issue it would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I am also an intercept owner and was not to pleased about not being able to assign ringtones to specific contacts.  Same issues we all have, only default would play.  After some research, on another forum, I found a posting about ringo lite, a free app on the Android Market.  I installed it and it works like a charm. Now my contacts have their own ringtones.  Just make sure you have a folder on your sd card for notifications and have any and all custom ringtones there.

I've had my own custom ringtones work on my Intercept but the FROYO update created all kinds of havoc with them, switching stuff/tones around and now NONE of my ringtones even show up IN Ringtones, only Notifications.  My old "dumb" RAZR played the specific tones for calls AND texts and I could differentiate tones for texts and voice mail...not on the "smart" phone.

Mine doesn't play the correct ringtone about 30% of the time.

Confused I just got my phone a few days ago and I can't get the notification tone to change even though it says it is changed.  It is really annoying me.  I also would like to be able to assign a larger variety of notification tones to texts than they provide.  First I had trouble with the whole screen freezing thing, now this....how smart is this phone, really?

Meh I DID manage to get a few things fixed with the ringtones - I got Handcent and it's now my primary texting tool. Set up the separate folders as was suggested in another thread and this helped too but the issue I have now is the phone will NOT accept/make any changes on a ringtone or notification for any specific contact aside from a select few...STILL very frustrating.

I was using Handcent and switched to Go SMS. Give that one a try and see if you still have the same issue.
