I have spent a good 6 months experimenting with apps for my Virgin Mobile Samsung and I finally have converted it into a strong stable smartphone! Here is my history to share for those interested:
First I received the samsung 6 months ago and although I loved the VM plan, the phone was buggy, sometimes it would jam, sometimes it would not respond to buttons or the notifications menu wouldn't work. First I experimented with Juice defender and green power free. Green power free is smaller won out, next  I downloaded the Android froyo upgrade 2.2, improvements but Still had problems with delay in the stock launcher. I experimented with Go Launcher ex but although it had great flexibility, it also froze my phone after using for a day or two. So I switched to the free Zeam launcher and it has been working for weeks now with no problems. You can adjust the screens from 3 to who knows how many. I'm happy with 3.  My games and programs loaded on the phone are papertoss, angry birds, tank hero, touchdown for my company email, yahoo, Stock browser , Superbox (wihich is better than Android assistant) and many more. I also have the power control widget loaded which allows me to directly control my WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and screen brightness!  My VM Samsung Intercept is rock solid with no problems and I wanted to share this with anyone having problems and because of green power free my battery lasts all day!

DannyK,

Thank you for sharing.  You offered a few new ideas I've never tried to improve the quality of our intercepts, like I've always stuck with the stock launcher, but maybe I'll give zeam a shot.

UPDATE to my original post:
I have removed Green Free Power app and reinstalled Juice Defender Ultimate app. The reason is I purchased a new computer with blue-tooth and I am using PdaNet blue-tooth for tethering. The Green power free keeps shutting off the phone 3G data to the blue-tooth transmitter on my samsung intercept phone when the display goes off. Juice Defender will allow PdaNet to work with the phones display off. This also works for apps like radio.com and more. With Juice Defender ultimate, you can select which apps continue to use the 3g data with the phone  screen off! Very cool!

Dannyk,

Thanks so much foryour suggestions! Go Launcher, Superbox and Green Power Free have totally transformed my phone! I've noticed that the most recent update of Go Launcher has significantly slowed it down, but hopefully that's fixed in the next update.

Please see my up date: I no longer use GO Launcher, I switched to a more basic launcher called Zeam Launcher which  works much better  for the slow processor of the Samsung Intercept and I went back to the Juice Defender which replaces the Green Power app. Also I now use TuneIn Radio which is the best radio app available.  My Samsung Intercept works great!

UPDATE JUNE 2011:
I have left superbox 10-1 app and I'm back using Android Assistant, I also uninstalled juice defender and I let android assistant handle everything. I noticed if the Samsung Intercept is on for a few days the memory would drain greatly affecting the phone. I'm not sure if this was superbox, but with andorid assistant I do not have this problem.  From time to time I click into the android assistant, hit quickboost button and my memory is restored and the phone flies!
