Yesterday, I updated my Virgin Mobile USA Samsung Intercept from Eclair 2.1 DI06  to Froyo 2.2.2 EC07. I had Go Launcher Ex as my Default Home Launcher App on Eclair 2.1.

Today, I had an Force Close error with Go Launcher Ex Home Replacement App and phone became laggy. I had to uninstall Go Launcher Ex App.

I went to Market and downloaded and installed Go Launcher Ex again. After this whenever I pressed Home key, the phone was launching Stock Launcher as Home Launcher App. Several times, I ran Go launcher Ex manually and when I pressed Home key, only Stock Launcher was showing up as my default Home Launcher.

Here is what I did to set Go Launcher Ex again as my default Home Launcher.

Press Home Key
Press Menu Key
Select Settings
Select Applications
Select manage applications
Select All tab
Scroll down until I found Launcher App
Select Launcher and scroll down
See under Launch by default. If you see that Clear defaults button is highlighted then press on it. This will make sure that Stock Launcher App is not default Home Launcher App.

Next,

Press Home Key
You will see a popoup window with Stock Launcher and Go Launcher Ex as choices for Home App. Check the make it default and then select Go Launcher Ex.

Now on, whenever you press Home key, it will launch Go Launcher Ex a your Home App.

EAI:

We know that replacement launchers were almost a requirement for 2.1
but during your use of it with the upgrade now in place, do you feel that
this is still a must have?

I can tell you why Go Launcher EX is still useful even with Android 2.2 on my Samsung intercept. I notice that when i used the stock launcher, I would come off the web in horizontal mode and turn the screen to vertical mode to view it takes a few seconds for my home page icons to come up when using the stock launcher. I attribute this to a slower CPU in the Samsung but with the GO laUNcHER ex i notice a greatly improved response!  Some people say its like having a new phone, not to mention there are many more features....

I've tried most of the launchers, and I have to say without a doubt Go Launcher EX is the best imho. /nods

Sorry but there isn't any other Launcher App beside GO Launcher EX on the All Tab List.

How can I find Stock Launcher App from FROYO 2.2

To all I have recently switched to Zeam launcher. When Go Launcher ex worked it was great but after afew days it would lock up the phone. The Zeam launcher is a basic launcher better than the stock launcher and more stable. My problems went away and now I can switch from browser to main page with out and delay! BTW, the Zeam launcher has been working for  2 weeks now without a glitch!

I have been following your advice on how to get this intercept to run better. I had Virgin send me a new phone because the one I had was freezing. It may have been the Go Launcher Ex app causing the freezing, but I am not sure. To my surprise Virgin Mobile had the phone to me the very next day. Anyway... I have installed the Zeam and see there is no notification menu now. How do I get that back? Also the screens seem to switch weirdly. It's hard to explain, like it doesn't move to a full screen, like it moves a little bit and they're calling that a new screen? I have just started with the Zeam and played with the setting a little bit but will have more time later to see if changing settings helps.

Sorry I have realized that I had it running in full screen mode so it hid the notification bar. I have fixed it but the screen thing is still weird and uncomfortable to me. I will "play" around with it later when I get off work. Thanks in advance.
